Occasion Smurfs from Schleich

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - Toys

Whatever the event, Schleich has a Smurf to help express that special message. There are eight brand new Smurfs in the Schleich range to choose from – each bearing a specific heartfelt statement for every occassion.

It must be love, for a whimsical and ironic twist on traditional wedding cake toppers, the ‘Bride and Groom Smurfs’ are ideal. This set of two figurines sees Groom Smurf lovingly carrying a giggling Smurfette dressed in a beautiful wedding dress. Placed on top of a wedding cake, these Smurfs are a must for brides looking for something different.

Smurfs are loving creatures and Valentine’s Day Smurf is no exception – his not-so-subtle giant pink heart and coy expression really says “I love you”. Great as an alternative anniversary present or perhaps even as a fun way to propose?!

Don’t just say sorry, show you truly mean it with ‘Sorry Smurf.’ His wobbly bottom lip begs forgiveness and is bound to help crack a smile and mend a friendship – and if that wasn’t enough, his big green sign really spells it out.

Plus for those moments when words just aren’t enough, there’s ‘Thank You Smurf’ who knows there’s no better way of showing appreciation than with a huge bunch of cheerful yellow flowers and big grin who joins Birthday Smurf’ who’s ready to celebrate with a delicious cake, candle and party hat too.

For an original way of congratulating new parents, adorable ‘Baby Smurf’ with his open arms and dummy detail is ideal and will also act a charming keepsake for the new arrival too.

Poorly ‘Get Well Soon Smurf’ is certain to help lift spirits with his comical thermometer and beautiful bouquet his well wishes shine through – and what’s more he’s the perfect size for popping into a card too.

‘Party Smurfette’ is ready to throw the biggest and best celebration of the year and she definitely looks the part with a stunning gold hat and pink dress. This pretty and quirky figurine is a fun gift for all Smurf fans who like a party, she’s even sitting in a giant cocktail glass – smurfy!

Big Birds favourite Smurf

Like all of Schleich’s figures, Occasion Smurfs are individually hand painted with Schleich’s trademark exceptional attention to detail which really brings the Smurfs to life. RRP £3.39, available from Amazon.

Wednesday 27th March 2013 ‘Friends' (86/365)

Written by mummybird. Posted in 365

In the last few weeks I have really found out who my friends are. My world has been turned upside down and last night my lovely friend and neighbour Mummymatters found out the sad news I was was dealing with. Like a true star when I returned from the Brownies tonight her stepson was on my doorstep with flowers to cheer me up. I burst into tears at her lovely gesture (poor Curly didn’t know what to say to me, bless him.) Its times like this that you realise who your friends are and luckily mine are coming to me in the bucket loads. I Love all of you who are helping me through this tough time, its really appreciated, and I promise I will be back on my feet soon. xxx

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Puzzle

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - Puzzle Club

We have been working with the Ravensburger Puzzle club for quite some time now and every month we look forward to see what the next puzzle will be. Little Bird was not disappointed this month when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles puzzle arrived at the end of last week.

This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Puzzle is cut into 200 sturdy pieces and measures 36 x 49cm when complete and is designed for children aged 8 years old +. Little Bird is 4 years old now and completed this puzzle with a little bit of help from me in about 45 minutes. He is very good at puzzles and he was chuffed to bit when he completed his first 200 piece puzzle.

This puzzle is great for children because there are lots of bits with bright colours, making it easier for you to work the pictures out. This puzzle contains the four main characters Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael then it has two of the baddies but I am not sure of their names. Little Bird made some names up for them which made me laugh.

This puzzle is made of strong, sturdy card and the pieces fit together really well and do not lift up and pop out like some puzzles we have done in the past. We think that Ravensburger make the best puzzle, you can not beat their quality.
