Little Bird is a boy that loves being outdoors, he loves playing with the children in our street and his cousins as long as it involves being outdoors he’s there. Little Bird took on a challenge recently and that was to put a Kettler Go Kart through its paces!! We were sent the Kettler Barcelona to test out and Little Bird was so excited when it arrived and could not wait to start.
When the Barcelona arrived Little Bird was at school and it needed putting together so I did it for him before he got home. I am glad I did it whilst he wasn’t there because it took me about an hour to fix up and being a child with ASD, waiting around is not for him. It would of been a long hour because if he was in the house he would of been asking me over and over again how long would be until it was ready.
As I said earlier it took me around an hour to build the Barcelona Kettler Go Kart. It comes with the frame and wheels already attached it just needs the seat, steering wheel and front panel attaching before your ready to ride on it. I am a hands on woman and managed to do it all by myself by using the easy to follow instruction booklet.
This Barcelona is new to the Kettler range and is suitable for children aged 5-10 years old. Features include:
- A high quality steel tube frame with scratch resistant polyester coating.
- Ergonomically shaped moulded seat which is adjustable without tools.
- Freewheel facility.
- Handbreak controls for both rear wheels.
- Quality wheels with rubber tread.
Little Bird has been putting the Kettler Go Kart through its paces and the boy has been testing it well, its been everywhere with us on all kinds of terrain and we have all been having fun with it. Luckily I have a large boot on my car so that enables the Barcelona to come out with us where ever we go. This weekend we took it to Ferry Meadows in Peterborough which is one of my favourite places for letting the children go on their bikes and roller skates. Its a lovely location where you can walk around the lakes, I like it because the paths are perfect for bikes, scooters or go karts. Its very popular with dog walker and families and people who go there are very friendly and always stop and talk to you. Here are some of the photos we captured at Ferry Meadows.
Last week we took our go kart to the local Skate Park for its first visit. Little Bird was so excited when he got there and could not wait to take the go kart up and down the ramps. Little Bird really enjoyed it and his confidence began to grow whilst driving around the park, I had to stop my dare devil from taking the go kart off of the really high ramps but he was willing to give it a shot! Its great fun at the skate park and definitely something we will do again, it was funny watching the teenagers faces as he whizzed around on our Go Kart.
Little Bird, his sister and his friends have all enjoyed riding on the Barcelona go kart, its been put through its paces and its coped really well with all conditions. Its really popular with the children in the street, who always ask me to get it out for them. Its so well built and sturdy you can feel the quality of it when you touch it. Its not overly heavy, I manage to lift it in and out of the shed and into the boot of my car so its great that its not to heavy.
Little Bird loved the gear stick, its situated on the center frame of the go kart and is easy to use. If you push it to forward that allows you to pedal, if you pedal in reverse the go kart will go backwards which is ideal for when you are turning it around. If you pull the gear stick down it goes into neutral and will free wheel so you can be pushed or pulled along by someone else. Little Bird loves the break which is a handle at the side of the seat above the wheel. Its great that he feels in control of the go kart at all times, it really is his favourite mode of transport right now!
If you would like to buy the Barcelona Kettler Go Kart you will be looking to pay around £199.00, prices may vary depending on where you shop.
