Lego City 7285 Police Dog Unit

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - Lego, Review - Toys

Why not patrol the streets of LEGO City with this Police Dog Unit set. You can drive to the scene in the transport vehicle, release the police dog and help track down the escaping robbers. The Police Dog Unit 7285 from Lego is designed for children aged 5-12 years old and is a fantastic toy to start your Lego collection with. It comes in a lovely small box with easy to follow instructions and the Lego pieces are bagged up to keep them all in one place. I am really impressed with the instructions that come with the Lego sets they really are simple to use and come with good clear pictures to help you.

My Nephew Ollie built this with Big Bird and it took them just over one hour, it would have been done quicker but Little Bird kept trying to help them, but he turned out to be more of a hindrance than a help bless him. Ollie was really patient with Big Bird and really took his time to show her how to build this. They were a great team.

The Police Dog Unit Set comes with the Police Dog Unit Van, One Police Man, and a Police dog. This set has been Big Birds favourite set, mainly because she is dog mad and she has enjoyed driving the dog around and then unleashing him on the robbers.

The Police Dog Unit vehicle has enough room to sit a minifigure in the front but you can only do this by removing and placing back the glass windscreen. The side of the vehicle can be opened so you can place the dog inside.

Ollie and Big Bird have enjoyed playing with the Police Dog Unit set, Big Birds favourite bit of the set is the dog but she has enjoyed playing with the police man because he comes with handcuffs and a walkie talkie.

This would make an excellent stocking filler this Christmas. You can purchase this from any good toy or online shop for around £8.99, prices may vary depending on where you shop.

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - Lego, Review - Toys

Look out Lego and Star Wars Fans ………. Lego have a fantastic Star Wars range out in the shops to buy now. Much to my husbands delight we have been sent the Lego Star Wars Ewok Attack 7956 to review.  But I told him from the off this was not for him, this was for our daughter and nephew to do together. The Ewok Attack is what can only be described as an Ewok Tree House, with built in guns and canon. It comes with 3 characters Tokkat, Logray and Scout Trouper. This Star Wars set is designed for children aged 7 – 12 years old, although I would say I think dads will love it too.

My Nephew Ollie is 11 years old and spends a lot of time at our house, he is also bonkers about Lego. So when he saw the Ewok Attack he shouted “awesome.” That’s were my daughter gets that word from I now realize. This Lego set contains the two things that Ollie loves best, Lego and Star Wars so he couldn’t wait to get started on the building the Ewok Attack.

The set comes in a lovely box and the Lego pieces are bagged up. It comes with an easy to follow instruction booklet, Ollie made this with the help of Big Bird. She loves doing anything crafty and anything with her cousin so they both cracked on with it together. I had never seen a Lego instruction booklet before and I was surprised just how brilliant it was. It really is clear and easy to follow. Its full of step by step pictures so children can do it by themselves. This set contains:

Tree Hideout

The Tree Hideout is mounted on two separate tiles giving you space to hide either on the top or the bottom. It comes with really cool features:

  • A secret compartment to drop out logs from.
  • A catapult to launch the three rocks in.
  • A flick-fire missile launcher on the lower platform.

Speeder bike

Also included is an Imperial speeder bike in similar design from the speeder bike so Scout Trooper can fly around and attack the Tree Hideout.

There are 3 Minifigures in this set Tokkat, Logray and Scout Trooper.

Ollie and Big Bird put this together in 2 and a half hours, so it kept them quiet for quite some time.

You can buy this set from any good toy or online shop for around £23.99, although prices may vary depending on where you shop. This would make a perfect Christmas or Birthday present for any Lego or Star Wars fan.

Lego Hero Factory DVD

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - DVD's, Review - Lego

This is the first DVD released from the smash hit TV series that launches on 24th October 2011. Welcome to the Hero Factory. A place where the most advanced and skilled Heroes in the universe are built to serve one function – saving the world from evil.

The Heroes latest mission starts on 24th October 2011 when Lego Hero Factory makes its DVD debut. Available from Warner Home Video priced £9.99 RRP, Lego Hero Factory is packed with heroic missions and adventures and also includes a 22-minute bonus featurette entitled Lego Atlantic.

Alpha team leader Stormer is the best and toughest Hero at the Hero Factory. But years ago, when he was still just a Rookie, he was sent on a dangerous mission. Their leader was wounded and it was up to Stormer and his fellow Rookie, Von Ness, to save the city. But Von Ness deserted him, and Stormer was forced to go into battle alone. He succeeded that day, just like he has on every mission since then, but he still carries around the feeling that something is left unfinished.

Today, a new Rookie team has been assigned to complete their training with Stormer and his crew. As the Heroes begin to work together on their missions, they start to realize that the bad guys they are fighting are working for someone. Someone from Stormer’s past, with an evil agenda to take down the Hero Factory and Stormer himself.

This DVD arrived this morning and Little Bird has watched it already, he really enjoyed it. I think he enjoyed it more because his sister was at school and he managed to watch a DVD that was more for boys.

This is definitely one for the boys!!
