Happy 11th Birthday Big Bird

Written by mummybird. Posted in The Birds

Omg where did that time go? …. 11 years ago today my beautiful girl came into my life. She has kept me on my toes since the day she entered my life and I have a feeling she will keep me on my toes for the rest of my days as a mother too. In the last year she has grown up so much and slowly she has matured to the lovely little girl I see before me today.

Big Bird Does Primary School – Done!!!!

Written by mummybird. Posted in The Birds

Today Big Bird completed Primary school, I can’t actually believe she has finished at her first school. It only seems like yesterday I was dropping her off to the reception classroom and walking away with the thought of how far away Year 6 was from us. Her time at Primary school has flown by so quickly I can’t believe its all over for her.

Sports Day 2016

Written by mummybird. Posted in The Birds

This week it was the childrens sports day at school, it was the first and last sports day that they will ever do together. This year both children are in KS2 so they had their sports day at the same time. Luckily the rain kept away it was cloudy and the sun came out in bursts, we were lucky considering the weather we have had the last two months.

The Pitter Patter of Webbed Feet

Last month the Bird family decided we were going to try something new and that something was to hatch some birds, I am not talking about another Big Bird or Little Bird I am talking about the feathered variety. I have always wanted to hatch chicks at home and just before Easter we decided to get an incubator so we could try and do it ourselves.

I have always wanted to hatch chicks but Mr M talked me into going for duck, so ducks it was! I bought an incubator and a heat lamb and then all I needed was the eggs. I bought some fertile Call Duck eggs and we couldn’t wait to put them in the incubator and start turning them.

Lego …. Our Lifeline

Written by mummybird. Posted in The Birds

Lego is more than just lovely bright colourful bricks to us, Lego has been a massive part of our family life for the last four and a half years. Little Bird discovered Lego just before he turned 4 years old and I was soon to discover that it was going to be a lifeline for my son. When Little Bird turned 4 years old he was building Lego sets designed for children up to the age of 8 years old all on his own.

It didn’t take me long to release there was something special about my boy and their was something truly amazing between him and Lego bricks. After a long fight with hospitals and doctors we finally got a diagnosis two months ago that Little Bird has Aspergers Syndrome and high functioning autism. Every appointment we have had with the specialists and doctors we were quizzed about what he loves doing the most, every time we were asked that question and we would always reply with Lego!

Gtech Cordless Lawn Mower

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - Home and Garden, The Birds

You know Summer is on its way when the grass in your garden is up to your knees and you have to blow the cobwebs off your lawnmower and put it into action. I was late cutting my grass last year and decided this year I was going to be on top of it early. The weather this year has been strange to say the least. We had daffodiles popping up in January and everything seemed to peek early. Our grass has got a mind of its own and decided in February to have a spurt on and start growing. You know what its like once you have made that first cut, it just doesn’t stop after that.
