One toy Little Bird really wanted last Christmas but Santa did not get was Xeno. I first came across Xeno at Dream Toys in London at the end of last year. When I first saw them I thought …. ewwww! I was instantly drawn to the long green snot that was hanging from his nose and knowing that Little Bird was a child thats grown up since he came off Baby Formula replused by anything green around anyones nose I was slightly surprised when this appeared on his Christmas list. When Little Bird went on his first school trip he had to move seats because one of the children had dry snot around his nose and it made Little Bird feel sick so I thought there was no way he would like this toy. I asked at Dream Toys if I could cut the snot off and was told no because it was one of the sensors that activates this toy.
Christmas is just around the corner and whilst the children are getting excited about the latest toys they will get this year, there’s only one set of toys on Big Birds mind. My Blue Nose Friends …. they will always be a firm favourite with her and she’s been having a look at what’s out in the shops to buy.
Two weeks ago I went to London for Dream Toys 2014, where the best of the best toys for Christmas were displayed for us to look at. When I walked into Dream Toys I was greeted by two walking Lego Movie Characters and I knew I should of taken Little Bird with me. If you read my blog regularly you will know that my son is bonkers about Lego, so its always been something I try and keep up to date with.
Ever since I was little I’ve been fascinated by the Rubiks cube, I remember trying my hardest as a child to crack the cube but I just couldn’t work it out. This time last year Little Bird won a Rubik Cube at the fair and the joy for the cube came back to me and it was starting to rub off on the children. Mr M and myself became obsessed with the Rubiks Cube and tried really hard to crack it but we just couldn’t do it. The frustrating part for us was Mr M works with a man who knows how to complete the Rubik Cube. I have watched him do it in less than one minute, I can’t believe how fast he is so I asked him to give me some lessons. I would mess the cube up and within seconds he would complete it, I watched him intensely trying to learn but I just couldn’t get it. Me and Mr M continued to try using hints from the Internet, and watching clips on YouTube and the most we can both do is …. complete one full side.
Just recently the Bird household has been infested with bugs ….. and I am not talking about the ones that move and crawls around at high speed and scare the children. I am talking about the bugs from the educational section from Learning Resources. I have worked with Learning Resources for a number of years now, they are a company that are fairly local to me and make educational toys for children to use at home and at school. When they heard that Little Bird was diagnosed with ASD they instantly jumped to my rescue and provided me with a number of toys that would help him learn. We now keep in regular contact and I give them feedback of their fantastic products.
A few weeks ago Big Bird took on a big Lite Brix challenge when she was sent the Sunset Island Mall to review. If kits like this need building in our house its normally done by her younger brother so she was looking forward to the challenge. The Sunset Island Mall is designed for children aged 6 years old + and is a create n build set with lights.

Its that time of year again you know the one ….. when the Bird family are sent a new box of Lego to review. Little Bird loves our job of reviewing Lego and he couldn’t wait to see what was in our box this time. There was a variety of different Lego ranges for us and after looking through them all I asked Little Bird to pull out his favourite so he could build it first. I knew exactly which one he would pick and I was right.
We are big fans of My Blue Nose Friends toys in our house. Big Bird has been collecting them for two years now she absolutely loves them. I love it when I go into her bedroom at night to check her and she is fast asleep with a bed full of My Blue Nose Friends. There are so many in her bed that there is hardly any room for her to sleep, her favourites are always the pink ones, well it would be wouldn’t it, its her favourite colour unless there is a dog becuase that over rules the colour.
