Lego Have Fathers Day Wrapped Up

Written by mummybird. Posted in Review, Review - Lego

Fed up of the normal mugs, picture frames, “Worlds best Father” teddies that are about for Fathers Day?? Why not treat the man in your childrens life to something special this Fathers Day. Lego have a fantastic range of products that are aimed at everyone especially the dads. Mr M spends lots of time building Lego sets with Little Bird and he has a list of man Lego Sets that he would like to build.

I asked Little Bird to pick a couple of Lego sets that he thought Dads would like this Fathers Day. I think his decision was based a little bit on what he liked and also what he would like to build with Mr M who is the daily father figure in his life.

Firstly Little Bird picked the Lego Marvel Super Heroes 76049 Avenjet Space Mission and I must say for first impressions I liked this set and thought it was a good choice for Fathers Day. Mr M loves planes and this Marvel Super Heroes Plane is amazing. Both boys and grown men will love it.

The Lego Marvel Super Heroes 76049 set comes with four minifigures, Captain Marvel, Space Iron Man, Space Captain America and Hyperion, plus a Thanos big figure. The 2-in-1 Avenjet features an opening main cockpit, 4 flick missiles, opening hatch and a detachable mini-jet with an opening cockpit and 2 stud shooters this set is perfect for stopping Thanos invading planet Earth with the 2-in-1 Avenjet.

This Lego set is awesome Little Bird loves the fact that the top plane lifts up and can fly off and sort out trouble. Its like two planes in one, a great design by Lego. Little Bird really loves Thanos, he’s a chunky Lego character and my boy has played with him loads. Here is a short Video of Little Bird talking about this set.

The next Lego set Little Bird picked was Lego Technic 42050 the Drag Racer. I know this one will be a massive hit with the dads this Fathers Day as its absolutely awesome. Its a two in one build designed for children aged 10-16 years old up to adults of 101 years old (we think).

You can wheelie from the start line to the finish with the high-powered Drag Racer, featuring a vivid-blue and black color scheme with flame stickers, working steering and a detailed V8 engine with moving pistons. The body shell of this model is robust and can be lifted to reveal the chassis, exhaust pipes and working transmission. Once this set is built you can upgrade with the 8293 Power Functions motor set for motorized driving and wheelie functionality. You can rebuild this into a Supercharged Dragster for a double build-and-play experience.

Mr M and Little Bird built this set in about three hours, they thought it was an interesting build and really enjoyed working together to complete it. The moving Pistons give it a interesting and funky look. The body shell of this drag racer lifts up and down and locks into place so you can see the moving parts. You can turn the wheels using the steering stick near the seat, we all love the wheels on this one, it has two large ones on the back and two small ones on the front.

Drag Racer

I helped out a little bit with this build and I have to say this has been one of my favourites, it was so easy to build even Little Bird could do it on his own and he is only 8 years old. I’m becoming a bit of a fan of the Lego Technic range I think they are amazing and very well put together. Its awesome what the Lego designers come up with in their Lego quarters and I build these sets in awe of how they put these together to make fantastic creations.

You can currently buy the Lego Technic 42050 Drag Racer for £49.99 prices may vary depending on where you shop.
